Who is Benedetta
Benedetta Pasero, graduated in 2003 with an BSc in Science of Communications and in 2006 MSc in Media Communication Theories and Techniques at Università Cattolica in Milan, Italy. Before becoming a full time mum of Sofia, Benedetta worked as a freelance journalist for several newspapers, magazines and televisions, as organizer of international events and as author of various web-television contents and video-productions.
Since 2012 she is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During the same year, when Rett Syndrome started showing the first symptoms in Sofia, Benedetta was forced to abandon her professional career and chose to devote her full time to her beloved daughter, becoming her prime therapist, with major focus on augmentative alternative communication . Meanwhile Benedetta developed an increasing commitment in the promotion of activities, events and on-line publications aiming at spreading awareness about Rett Syndrome and the scientific progress towards a cure and, above all, fundraising to support the research to cure this devastating disease.
Benedetta is a member of the Board of Directors of “One day Sofia…”, acting as the Board’s Chairman as per Articles of Association, and she is specifically delegated to developing the relationships with the other associations, foundations and organization supporting awareness and research about Rett Syndrome and to maintaining the relationships with the association members and more in general with parents of Rett Syndrome girls.
